Does other illnesses indicate immune weakness?

by Ang80, Feb 25, 2007 12:00AM
I have posted questions b4 but general background:

Mum aged 56, diagnosed March 2005 OVCA stage III.
CA125 at diagnosis 512
Aug 05-Sept 06 12
Jan 07 21

For the past 2 weeks my mum has been ill.
First she had a tummy bug which everyone in the family has had, and then she has had a cold.

Could this indicate as she has been ill for 2 weeks that her immune system is not fighting as it should?

Also, when my mum goes to the clinic for check ups they feel her neck, is that to see if the lymph nodes are enlarged?

Thanks

Hi There
when someone has a cancer, we forget that they can also get the garden variety flu's and cold like the rest of us. If her white blood cell count is int he normal range, she should be fine. If she has not had a flu-shot, you could ask her practitioner about its availability. It is very important also that she stay hydrated by drinking lots of fluid
best wishes
