Am I worrying about something I shouldn't be?

I went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago about a burning sensation when urinating, and he gave me some cipro and sent me on my way.  He then asked me if I had any discharge and since he has asked me that, I've been checking constantly.  I don't know if I'm paying attention to something that I shouldn't be, but anytime I get aroused I have a clear discharge that comes out of my penis.  It is not noticable but since I have been so paranoid lately, i touch the tip of my penis and when I touch it I pull my finger away and a small string comes with it.  Also right before I'm about to urinate or right after, the substance shows up again.  Usually it only happens if I've been aroused, or when I pee after ejaculation.  I haven't had intercourse in about 4 months, and I have been dating the same girl for 2 years.  Is this anything to worry about, or am I just paranoid.  Like I said, I didn't noticed this until i started constantly examining myself after the doctor mentioned it.

You definitely have not STD.  Burning on urination, without discharge is not a common symptom of STD; 4 months is too late for any STD to show up; and cipro would have cleared up most STDs that might have been the cause.

Clear discharge is normal during sexual arousal; everybody gets it (whether or not they notice it).  (It's called pre-ejaculate fluid, or pre-*** in common vernacular.)

Stop checking yourself.  There's nothing wrong.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

so is it common for it to be after ejaculation? and also sometimes in the morning when I wake up it happens...but again its not noticeable unless I touch it and the string comes along with it.  sorry if I'm bothering you, I just want to be sure.

Is it normal for a very small amount of clear liquid to come out of my penis when i finish urinating when I first wake up in the morning.  Once again I have had only one sex partner for the past two years and her the same.  She was tested a couple of years ago and everything came back negative.  The only time the liquid happens is when I'm urinating..is this something to worry about?
