Thank you for this website. I've poured over the postings but haven't seen anything that matches my exact situation. Six weeks ago I had a sudden encounter with another guy. Nothing too much, but enough for an infection to have been passed (mutual masterbation, oral, penis-to-penis contact).
Two days later, I felt a sudden and sharp "pinching" feeling at the end of my penis. I thought perhaps it scraped the inside of my zipper somehow. I checked it out, and there was a small cut just on the inside of my urethral opening (meatus). There was also a small amount of blood. No other cuts, abrasions, rashes, redness, etc. Just that cut. (Coincedentally, I also got conjunctivitus 2 days later...however, that is usually associated with gonnorhea, right?). I don't have any gonnorheal or chlamydia symptoms, though.
This cut remains unhealed and unchanged after 6 weeks. The cut on the inside of the opening looks a bit deep, like a razor has cut into it. However, there is absoultely no pain (even when urinating), just a slight tingle or 'stab' once in a while. The cut remains wet, so I doubt it could scab over if it herpes.
I am worried it's herpes of the urethral meatus (judging by the 1 internet picture I've been able to find out there). However, there are no blisters, warts, redness, itching or pain. Just a slight dull sting once in a while. If there are blisters, would I even be able to see them, or are they 'out of view' if they're in the urethra?
I am living in a 3rd world country now, and plan to get a full board STD test next month when I'm home. However, any suggestions you have now could help me brace myself mentally in case it is herpes. Thanks for your help.

All in all, herpes is the most common cause of genital ulceration of the sort you describe. However, the first episode of symptomatic genital herpes usually is more severe than you describe, with multiple lesions not just one; and herpes definitely would not last 6 weeks without healing. I doubt herpes is the explanation.
However, syphilis is a serious concern and of course is a much more serious infection than herpes. If you are going home in the coming week ("next month" is only a few days away) it probably is safe to wait until then and have a comprehensive STD evaluation at that time. Otherwise, you need to find a knowledgeable provider right away. Most developing countries have providers knowledgeable about STDs. One way or the other, get checked out soon. I don't know that you have syphilis, but don't mess around with this. Serious complications like stroke or blindness are rare early in the disease, but they definitely can happen. In the meantime, no sex with anybody.
Most likely your conjunctivitis is unrelated to all this.

Whether herpes, adenovirus, or syphilis, 2 days is too soon for onset (especially for syphilis). Whatever is going on likely was acquired somewhere else, not during the event 2 days before. If it is syphilis, you probably acquired it 2-6 weeks before onset of symptoms.
