Any early advice

by Info appreciated, Dec 23, 2006 12:00AM
My mother, an active independent woman who used to dance weekly. At age 78 just suffered a bleeding stroke 8 days ago. The stroke was on the right side of the brain, so she was totally paralyzed on her left side (as if someone drew a line and split her in two). I understand she was able to sit on the edge of the bed for 12 minutes today, and while sitting lift her left leg for the first time, 2 inches. Later this evening she was able to wiggle her toes. We are cautiously optomistic. Besdues the skilled nursing physical, ocupational, and speech therpy. Is there anything else you would recommend? Any alternative therapy such as massage/bowen therapy? Cortical stimulation? Thanks.

"Bleeding" strokes in the elderly are sometimes caused by a simple vitamin K deficiency. She needs a good multivitamin every day.
