Smoking is terrible for thyroid eye disease -- stop immediately if you smoke.  Thyroid eye disease can cause permanent vision loss.  You need to see a thyroid specialist who can help establish the diagnosis of Graves (sometimes it's subtle and eye symtpoms can come before abnormal basic thyroid labs).  This can go away but must be addressed by a specialist ASAP and you must stop smoking.

Check out thyroidologists.com or thyroid.org or aace.com to find a specialist near you.  Finding an eye doc specializing in thyroid eye disease is tough but check for a neuro-ophthalmologist in your area.
