does this sound like a thyroid problem?

ok, im a 25 year old female with undiagnosed symptoms for 6 months (some of the symptoms appeared before tho). these are: headaches, weak & protruding right eye with slightly enlarged pupil, fatigue both physical & mental, muscle weakness(mainly in thighs&arms), hair loss&dry hair, apathy, loss of eyebrow hair, lighter menstrual periods, being very sensitive to hot&cold temperatures, dizzy, breathless&upper back pain on right side, unable to concentrate, palpitations esp noticable when im trying to get to sleep, leg jerks when im trying to sleep, muscle twitches, feeling of sinus pressure(sinus CT scan clear however),cold hands&fee, pain in hands and feet(1month),buzzing feeling in left foot, panic attacks, hypoglycemia, anxiety, mood swings.a couple of months ago for a few days my throat felt very tight&i had discomfort at the back of my neck.my symptoms come and go.i have been seeing a neurologist and am due to get brain MRI soon, but in the meantime im wondering if its worth me going to an endocrinologist?i had a basic thyroid test in march, but my GP said results were fine.whats making me think it really could be my thyroid is that for the past 2 days i have had a very funny feeling of discomfort in my throat/neck,its not too painful but enough to put me off my food as it hurts to swallow.its kinda hard to describe, its not like a sore throat but more like a feeling of fullness under my chin, where my head meets my neck?also, when i was about 14 years old i had a goiter, which disappeared on its own without treatment. does this sound like ive got a thyroid problem?

May be a thyroid problem, in part.  Check thyroid antibodies including TSH-Receptor Antibody and also check ultrasound to make sure thyroid not enlarged.  Also consider myasthenia gravis (neurologist should help with this). Repeat full thyroid panel (TSH, free T4/T3).  If still no diagnosis - an formal endocrine evaluation is suggested.

I am so glad I read your problem.  I seem to have a lot of your symptoms, especially that funny feeling on the throat.

Recently I went for a physical, and the doctor only tested T-4.  He did not find anything wrong with me, except high cholesterol.  I am also experiencing pre-menopausal symptoms.  I don't know if one thing can cause another, but I am not normal, and it has been getting progressively worse the past 6 months.  I cannot go on a diet.  It just won't work. I feel sluggish and depressed. I don't seem to be able to start an exercise program for lack of energy.  I have low blood pressure.  I am usually cold, but the premenopause makes me hot at times.  I am a total mess, and my doctor does not seem to find anything bad with me.

I still have to be checked out for hormonal problems on Halloween.

Thanks for any input.

Thank you so much, lazydog.  I will make sure to ask for a copy of the results, and get a second opinion.

Oooohhh yes, everyone of those symptoms sounds like thyroid to me.

Make sure you get a copy of the tests and check them out for yourself.  Some lab ranges are out of date...new ranges for TSH are .3 to 3.0.  I had 6.5 in 1999 and was told normal!  Not.  Suffered for another 6 years until finally a dx at TSH 8.5.

I had my doc in 2003 tell me I had "great bloods - that most would envy".  Ha.  Pity she hadn't requested a thyroid check!  I also wait until I feel my shabbiest before having blood test...just to be sure (as TSH can change 3.0 in a day).

Wowwwwwwwwww! No wonder I feel terribly on some days.  What I noticed is that 6 months ago I started feeling premenopausal, and I am wondering if one causes the other (hormones --> thyroid problems).

Today I requested to have all the tests faxed to my husband's office.  I will be able to see what is going on.  But I know the test doesn't include a T-3 test.

Thanks for the input.

I suspect Thyroid->Hormones as when medicated things improved somewhat.

I have or had Graves Disease. I went to my family doctor back in May. I told him that I was getting tired easily and that my heart was beating to fast and that some days I feel like passing out and get stabbing pains in my back and my left hand would go numb for a short time and subside. sometimes I would even feel like I was going to throw up. I really thought I had something wrong with my heart. He hooked me up to an EKG. He said It was a bad heart or bad blood. he asked alot of questions. some I realize now that I answered wrong. like do I have abnormal hunger pains? I said No. I would get strong hunger pains 3 times a day. I thought that was normal. He said he wanted to test my blood before he starts messing with my heart. He called me and said I had Graves Disease. He put me on a beta blocker and had a thyroid scan done that confirmed it. I swallowed a pill and was in Isolation for a few days. I went from very hyper to very hypo within 8 weeks. I crashed. Muscle cramps like you would not believe. swollen
