Return of hyperthytoid symptoms

by pamlicorivergal, Mar 08, 2007 12:00AM
I am currently waiting for follow up with endo, in two weeks. I was exhibiting symptoms of hyperthyroidism and was put on 10mg of Methimazole 1x daily.  I have been on it for 2 weeks and initially felt so much better, now I am beginning to feel like I felt prior to the Methimazole, anxious, unable to focus and itching. Any thoughts?

It really depends on the levels and reason for the hyperthyroidism -- the dose may be too low but it will take an endocrine/thyroid evaluation to determine the proper dose.  I assume you had levels showing hyperthyroidism prior to starting the methimazole and it was not prescribed due to symptoms alone....

I was put on methimazole also for hyperthyroid.  10mg in am and 10mg at night.  I ve taken it for about 5 1/2 days now and feel no better at all.  My blood pressure and heart rate still spike,  my head still feels funny at times,  I still have the shakes and all the other ughly stuff with this.  How long did it take for you to feel a little better.  Right away of what.  Im sorry you dont feel good again after only 2 weeks and I hope you get an answer and get this over with.  Thanks

It seems that within a couple of days of being on the med. I felt much better, almost normal,  but beginning at the second week mark the symptoms started gradually creeping back.  I am currently waiting for the results of blood work that I had on Tuesday to see if the medicine is working.

Try taking your meds 3 times per day vs. 2.  Break the pills of your current doasge to try and get 3 even doses.
