parathyroid? added informatin

I did not mention that all of my thyroid test came back in the normal range, even the PTH.  I think that is what is throwing the doctor off.  I just would like to have my energy, clear thinking and sex drive back.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.
thanks,
Lisa

see previous note -- this is likely primary hyperpara with 'inappropriately normal' PTH level.

If a normal person has a Ca of 11.8, the PTH really should be <20.  But usually these cases show PTH of >40 but still this is 'normal' -- it really is NOT normal for such hypercalcemia.

this is a common confusion.

what is normal? was your TSH around 1?

by lisacanto, Jun 28, 2007 12:00AM
My TSH was 0.956 in June, in April it was 2.225.
I am so confused and think I need to see another doctor for a second opinion, what you do think?

Forget the confusion - see another specialist.  There is only one solution to treating parathyroidism and that is surgery.  You will not get better - the unncessary calcium that is pumping into your blood is destroying your bones, your kidneys, your pancreas, your muscles, your nervous system and even your brain.  I know this sounds nasty and it is - but you need help, the sooner the better.

Unfortunately, I can't speak from experience, just yet, but I am hoping the bloods that I have just had done will come back positive, so that I can stop this pain in it tracks and finally get my life back in order.

Take care & Keep us posted.
