Question, 01 Sept. hTSH = 0.17, FT4 = 1.55 Labs on 20 Sept. hTSH = 0.55 T3 Free pending, FT4 = 1.52 . INR 0.98 low, MCHC 32.2 low, Glucose 123 high. These results were read by a GP and saw no significant problems. Does anyone see any problem?

You may have had a mild hyperthyroid state at least 3 weeks ago which is now resolving.  The INR is normal (this is only used in patients on blood thinners - if not on thinners - nl is 1).  MCHC is ok.  Glucose should be repeated as a fasting value - if still high (100-125) it's pre-diabetes, if >125 worrisome for diabetes.  Would repeat thyroid function in 4 weeks to ensure a full recovery.

Hi there, how are you doing?  I wish I had the answers that you are looking for.  I was totally going on nothing but TSH levels for close to a year, I just now had my T3 and T4 checked by my endo last month.  All I know is I got a letter in the mail that said my T3 and T4 were normal.  I do know that the TSH range is 0.3-3.0, but I was having significant hair loss and my TSH was in normal range and was having terrible symptoms at the same time.  My hair just now has started to grow back, and that is only after getting my TSH down to close to a .7, and also stopping my beta blockers that I was on.  It's just alittle hair growth too, nothing too great, I just haven't had stubble of any kind in years, so it's nice.  I know you haven't had much luck health wise here lately, and i'm sure they probably have you on alot of different meds, could one of them maybe be causing you hair loss symptoms?  the only reason i say that is my thyroid, well TSH was normal for a year and none of my hair grew back, it wasn't until I stopped taking another med, did it start to grow, I always associated it with the thyroid when it was something totally different. I wish I could recall that one website that I found the other day, it listed all medicines that causes hair loss, alot of them, I had no idea, I will look into it again, and post back.  I'm sure I wasn't much help, but maybe something made sense. tAke care. shannon

HI SHANNIEK,NO I'M STILL ON MY REGULAR MEDS.I TAKE A BABY ASPERIN NOW EVERY DAY.THEY ARE TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT CAUSED MY STROKE.MY NEUROLOGIST IS THINKING OF MY THYROID GLAND,SINCE IT CAN MESS UP ALOT OF THINGS IN YOUR BODY.MY NEUROLOGIST FINDS IT WEIRD THAT I HAVE CYSTS ON MY THYROID GLAND.SHE SAID THAT SHE REALLY BELIEVES IT IS MY THYROID,BECAUSE OF ALL OF MY SYMPTOMS.THE MEDICINES I TAKE DON'T CAUSE HAIR LOSS.I HAVE BEEN LOSEING MY HAIR FOR A WHILE,IT IS JUST GETTING WORST.ALL SO IT IS MORE DRY AND BRITTLE.I GET IT TRIMMED EVERY 6 - 8 WEEKS,HOPING THAT WILL HELP IT.BUT IT DOESN'T.I EVEN USE VO5 HOT OIL TREATMENTS ONCE A WEEK,TO TRY AND MAKE IT SHINIER.IT DOESN'T WORK.I HAVE TRIED EVERY THING,NOTHING WORKS.I GOT UP AT 4:30 A.M. BECAUSE MY RIGHT ARM AND RIGHT LEG WHERE HURTING.THAT WAS CAUSED FROM THE STROKE.I HAD PAIN BEFORE,BUT IT IS WORST NOW.I USE TO USE A HEATING PAD IN BED,MY HUSBAND BOUGHT ME AN ELECTRIC BLANKET TO USE.I USE THE HEATING PAD WHEN I AM ON THE COMPUTER SO I WANT FREEZE.I WEAR JEANS,AND EVERY BODY ELSE IN MY FAMILY WEARS SHORTS.I AM THE ODD BALL,OUT OF THE BUNCH ALL THE TIME.IN THE WINTER I WEAR THERMALS UNDER MY CLOTHES.I HAVE ALL WAYS BEEN LIKE THIS.I HOPE I GET ANSWERS SOON,BECAUSE THE HOLIDAYS ARE COMING UP,AND I WANT TO FEEL BETTER.I KNOW I WANT FEEL ALL THE WAY BETTER,BUT SOME WHAT BETTER.THANK YOU SHANNON FOR POSTING BACK.TAKE CARE OF YOUR SELF AND GOD BLESS YOU.TNT406

Hi there TNT, I know you've been on this forum for quite some time, and I read your posts, but am trying to remember your story.  I feel for you with the hair loss, I have been losing mine, and am  just about bald on the top of my head, it really makes me self conscious.  Forgive me on the meds, I guess, I assumed that since you had your stroke, that they might of had you on some other meds.  What is your blood pressure like?  Besides being cold and such what other symptoms do you have?  You mentioned hurting alot, even before your stroke, I have that also, muscle and joint pain that just never goes away, It is hard to live in pain every day, and as sad as it sounds, we just all kind of get use to it huh?  Sure makes for some bad days though.  If Neurologist is saying thyroid, than what are they doing about it?  Your labs are coming up normal?  didn't you mention before awhile back that you had your thyroid antibodies checked and they came back elevated?  Wasn't that you?  Cysts on your thyroid, isn't tht showing that you are having damage done to it?  It would not surprise me that you might of had a stroke based on a thyroid attack, because last year when I was Dx'd with my hashi's, I too, was on the verge, i just remember sitting on the table at the dr, my heart pounding so hard that it hurt my chest, and I could not feel the whole right side of my body, I will always remember that as long as I live.  Staring over at my husband who was just white as a ghost, I really think we both thought, that was it.  But they controlled my symptoms right away for all the problems I was having and started me on thyroid meds, and I got better, True, I don't think thyroid  patients ever feel normal.  You are right, having your thyroid messed up, just can effect so man;y things in your body.  I never know, sometimes I have real good days and have lots of energy and others, I just can't seem to get out of bed.  I hope that you find your answers soon.  What is your TSH by the way?  I'm confused why they are not treating you, unless they are not sure that the thyroid is the cause?  I have cysts also on my thyroid, from my Hashimoto's, Post back and let me know again what is going on, I think I remember you said that you have the antibodies.  Take care Shannon

hi there, I saw your post to the doc, and I hope that he answers your questions, I know i'm not as much help, but I am so perplexed, most of your labs look pretty normal, and even your antibodies, showed positive, but your number is quite low.  I agree with Jimlow, as you had said, you will need to get that checked again, I would think, that since you were positive for the antibodies, even with a low reading, that number will increase I would think after time.  maybe not, I'm not a doc, but I would think so,  especially something to explain the cysts
