Breast tissue is not necessarily symmetrical.
Generally, when mammograms are done, the films are compared to those that were done before. Radiologists look for changes, both in size and in character in order to determine what additional evaluation needs to be done. Mild ductal hyperplasia without atypia is not considered a risk factor for breast cancer. This may or may not be the same original nodule.
However, a core biopsy takes a very small sample of a "nodule."
Sometimes, if a nodule shows growth or changes in character, an
excisional biopsy or "lumpectomy" may be recommended so that
