Foot issue

I'm a 41 yo ( nurse practitioner) female with no significant medical history...surgical history of abdominal lipoma removed in 2003.

3 days ago I woke up with what a lump, or what looks like a lipoma on the lateral side of each ankle( same side as the pinky toe), right in fron tof the ankle bone.

It's on both sides. The one on the right is a little bigger than the one on the left. Both are about 2 cm's or a little smaller.
They feel mushy, don't hurt, and I only noticed them when I went to put on shoes...I noticed this lump sticking out, then I saw it on the other side, too.

It's different than the lipoma on my stomach because I could "capture" that one...I felt the edges..I don't feel edges on these. They get bigger if I extend my foot, and get smaller if I flex my foot.

It's not fluid, there is no pitting edema, no pain. LAst week I was wearing very high heels, and my feet were extremely fatigued and sore. The following week, I did my normal running 3 miles twice, but added in a spinning class which I haven't done in months. Other than that, nothing different.

No other lumps, no lympadenoapthy, CBC blood work done a week ago for something else, all normal.

ANy thoughts?

I'm getting concerned.

THanks

Lipoma can certainly be considered, however it is impossible to say without examination.  A cyst or abscess would also be included in the possibilities.  Of course, dangerous lesions like sarcomas or other skin cancers can also be considered and ruled out if suspected.

The next step would be a referral to a surgeon for a possible biopsy.

This options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
