Acute Illness

Hi,

Thanks in advance for your time and expertise.

I have a nine-year-old daughter who has been vomiting since Sunday night. She's hydrated. She's running a fever of 101 and feels lethargic.

What's bothering my husband and I the most is that her skin looks translucent--you can see her blue veins, especially on her tummy and legs. The skin looks like an intricate map of tiny blue and red veins. We've never seen anything like it.

What do you think is causing it, and should we be seeking urgent care?

Thank you. We're taking her to the ER for bloodwork and IV fluids.

I'm glad you're doing so.  I'll be praying for her.

Yes, Fifths disease can look like that, but I was worried about how dehydrated the child sounded.
