antibiotics and grade 2 reflux

by Kristen, Aug 24, 1999 12:00AM
My daughter has a grade 2 reflux and has been

on antibiotics for 15 months. We have recently discovered some hearing loss in her right ear and I wondered if this is somehow related to her taking of antibiotics.

thanks,

Dear Kristen,

I think you should have your daughter checked by her family doctor to document if there is a problem.  I don't know what prophylactic antibiotics your daughter is taking, but hearing loss is generally not a problem with the more common prophylactic medications.  If you are still concerned, you could ask your pharmacist to check out the medications you are using in detail.  I looked in the PDR at didn't see hearing loss associated with the medications commonly prescribed.                                 The information provided in this forum is presented for general educational purposes only.
