How does the extended use of marijuana affect the effect of antidepressants such as zoloft, paxil, prozac, etc.?

why does everybody think that marijuana use will always turn to harder drugs?

by Jay, Dec 07, 1999 12:00AM
Cause they research the weak and feeble-minded who truly can't say "no" to anything.  One of these days the light bulb will go on and they'll figure it out, but until then it's gonna be that "bud" will always fall victim to the bad stuff.  Even if it isn't the truth.

i was a user of pot and was put onto prozac to counteract a depressive state i was going through. But one of the main side affects of marijuana is feelins of depression and the lack of want to do anything but feel sorry for yourself and lose the  will to work, play and associate. Prozac made these feelings become worse for myself as i was unaware of the symptoms  a heavy user of pot suffered. Therfor instead of the antidepressant working it was doing the opposite. I ended up blaming the prozac and it wasn't that which was causing me problems. It was the pot so in turn i would not reccommend using pot with ant-depressants

I am a heavy hash smoker and have tried many times to stop but I just dont have the willpower, however I would not believe any bull that these so called researchers say regarding how hashheads

turn into junkies as I have puffed for 3 years and have never taken any other illegal drug or substance in my life - so legalize dope - were not the same as other drug adddicts

You sound like you are trying to convince yourself more than others that you don't have a problem.  Just stop and read your own letter.  You are helpless against this drug.  So literally you are a junkie, maybe not a heroin junkie but a junkie just the same.  You are not your own person.  You belong to hash.  It controls you.  Youi smoked for three years but never did ANY OTHER ILLEGAL DRUG.  SO YOU ADMIT YOU ARE DOING ILLEGAL DRUGS.  Just because you want to feel better about yoursaelf doing drugs IT MUST BE LEGALIZED.  GET REAL ESPECAILLY WITH YOURSELF.  I WISH YOU LOTS OF LOVE AND PRAYERS.

I have a question--   How can marijauna help in a mediacal way?

We need to legalize marijauna because it is better than alcohol and also has less of an effect on the body than anyother drugs. If you think about everyone pretty much does it and has tried it before.

I'm doing a compare/contrast paper on Beer/marijauna and their effects on the brain, the reflexes, and the overall damage to the body could you help or assist on where to find this info. Thanks.

Lets fire one up for America

Sheba, Lamotta, Refer, Pot, Chronic, Blunt, Bud, Grass, and Hemp are some of the words that people use when talking about marijuana.  However, when it comes down to smoking marijuana there is always different perspective.  Some people think it should be legal while others think its better off illegal. The people that think it should stay illegal probably have good reason. For example, one person might say that marijuana is a gateway drug or that pot has bad side effects. Also, there is the question about smoking and driving while being stoned. So lets take a minute to touch down on this subject end then I will show you how we can benefit from the legalization of marijuana.

First there is the people who believe that the use of marijuana will lead to the use of harder drugs like cocaine, heroin, acid, mushrooms, peyote and PCP.  Although, I know plenty of people that smoke only marijuana because they consider it a liter drug.  Also, they have given up drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes and other drugs because they claim it's to hard on the system and is made by man.

Next, these people are also concerned about driving under the influence.  In addition people are arrested every day for DUI.  But how many DUI's are because of marijuana?  Better yet, how many times have someone heard about vehicle homicide while stoned on marijuana?  Honestly, I have never heard of any accident.  When someone smokes a joint because the effects are much less than alcohol.  For example, he or she would not stumble around, and they are able to see straight without being of balanced.  Otherwise, if someone is caught smoking while driven, fine him or her and treat it like you would alcohol. Also, I would rather see someone smoking a joint then drinking any day because I know what the effects are of being high versus being drunk.  Yet, I still would not condone either one while driving.

Another, reason people might be against marijuana is because it is bad for there health. Well, I am going to agree with them, marijuana has to have some side effect like all drugs. However, there are other drugs out there that are legal and much harder on the body. Yet, people think it is right to sell speed, diet pills, downers, sleeping pills, anti-depressants, pain pills, muscle relaxers, cigarettes, dip and not to mention alcohol.  Meanwhile, everybody acts like they have never heard about liver and kidney damage, high blood pressure and heart attacks.  Yet, doctors say marijuana can cause lung cancer, which is inconclusive there is no real evidence following those accusation. So if someone is going to smoke something that might cause damage why does it have to be man made with a lot of side effects while marijuana comes straight from the earth, no ingredients added and only one health risk, lung cancer.

Next to the first type of people stand the second type people, the dope smokers.  However, there would be a lot more people standing beside the so-called potheads if they knew what could be done if marijuana would be legalized.  Such as, the solution to the over crowded problem in prison.  Also create new jobs and help America with its tax deficit.  How could marijuana help anyone out that much?  Well it's very simple; the plan could go something like this.

First there are thousands of people in prison for committing victimless crimes while child sex
