Dear Sirs or Mams,

I have a couple of questions.
What is the main purpose of a Hepatabilliary test, and which organs does it examine?

When the gall bladder is removed, what happens to the bile or any secretions.

Thank You,
Laura R. H.

Dear Laura,
A hepatobiliary scan measures the flow of a radioactive tracer in the bile ducys and gall bladder. It is used to identify blockage of a bile duct.

The gall bladder is a storage site for bile between meals. After the gall bladder is removed bile continually cycles between liver and intestine.
