Question Title: Abdominal pains while runningForum: The Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases Forum

I am (was) a competetive runner... I used to run 5-10 miles several times a week. In January, all of a sudden, I could not even run one minute without getting ab. pains. Physicians checked my ovaries. Physical therapists checked my muscles and bones. All that without figuring out my problem. My own idea is that something may be wrong with my stomach or intestines. Prior to January, I would get cramps if I ate before running, and on a couple occations I got nausea or threw up. However, I could control it by not eating before running. Now, even on an empty stomach I get cramps. I have diahrrea frequently - several times a week. I get nausea if I try to run. The pains are random. One day they are between the hip and belly botton (either side). Another day they are along my sides between hip and rib cage (also either side). The pains are worst when I run, and especially during downhill running which bumps my body more. Walking in a rugged terrain or driving a vehicle that bumps alot also starts the pain. I appreciate any help. Thank you very much. This information is provided for educational purposes only. Pleaase consult your physician for the response to specific medical concerns. Mette
