Chronic symptoms: abdominal distention; intestinal swelling/inflammation; hunger; restricted urine flow (prostate not enlarged); psoriasis; mental confusion; underachievement; reclusiveness; fidgeting; knuckle-popping, persistent skin irruptions, mainly on front of right thigh; persistent yeasty exudates on scalp and left calf; stiffness on rising; irregular bowel habits (1-4x/wk); dry eyes. Acute symptoms (occurring 1-3x/mo and lasting 2-3 days; no obvious cause, although salmon, swordfish, and Jamaican jerk sauce have triggered it): agonizing, unilateral headache centered on right orbit; sinus congestion; food sensitivities; foul, septic-scented gas and stools, typically large, soft, greenish, fibrous, and floating; borborygmus; PAT/PVCs (at night); malaise.
Lab test results: slight hematuria (hemolyzed); steatorrhea; overgrowths of Candida albicans and Klebsiella pneumoniae; robust and hyperactive T-cells; clusters of lysed RBCs with small, rod-shaped attachments (one per cell). No diagnosis so far (going on 15 years).
I recently read an article in Science News linking tooth decay to lead poisoning. I had bad tooth decay until age 12, but no decay since then. That led me to recall that my father used to dust the crops in our WWII victory garden with insecticide that might have contained lead arsenate, and I would have been exposed to that since I was in utero. He started using rotenone on the garden about the time my teeth stopped decaying. Could all of the above be related to lead and arsenic poisoning? If so, would chelation therapy help? If not, what else could it be? Where should I go for help or at least symptomatic relief? Clearly not life-threatening, but a damn nuisance, and it interferes with my job performance.

Dear David,
I am uncertain whether your symptoms are related to heavy metal poisoning, but it is easy to answer this question. Ask your physician to do lead and arsenic levels. These tests can be done at commercial labs. If your values are increased, you could explore therapeutic options.

Do you also experience a temperature during these bad times? I believe that Candida and Klebsiella pneumonia can cause these symptoms.
