acid reflex feel alike

by J. Hunter, Aug 21, 2001 12:00AM
One night I was lying down in bed reading a book I all of a sudden choked on what seemed to be vomit. However I do not believe that is what it was. I kept coughing and belching. there was a horrible taste and feeling in my throat. It felt like it was burning. I drank about two glasses of water. but it was still killing. Two nights later my mother had the same thing, except for she said it tasted like coffee grounds, and she rarely drinks coffee let alone eats coffee grounds. She thought it was acid reflex, but after reading your site, it does not seem like that. My question is what in the world do you think this is and how can we prevent it.

                 Thank you

Acid reflux for sure.  Sleep with your head higher trhan your abdomen.  Try Gaviscon or a prescription drug called Losec.
