Had a liver biopsy?

by soozie, Sep 27, 2001 12:00AM
I have been told to have a liver biopsy.  How exactly is it performed?  Is it painful?  Hospital stay involved?  Recuperation period?   How much time off from work?  How long does it take?

Thanks for all the answers I am sure I will receive!!

I have had a liver biopsy. It is done on an out-patient basis. There is no pain involved. It is very safe when it is done as an ultrasound-guided liver biopsy. You can return to work two days after the liver biopsy.
