Back Pain After Laprascopic Surgery

I am a 36 y.o. female. Two weeks ago I had my gall bladder removed laprascopically. Prior to the surgery, I had one severe attack, and then on-going pain in my mid-abdominal area at the base of the rib cage, plus pain across in the middle of my back. Surgery went well, seemed to recover nicely with very little pain or discomfort in the abdominal area. About a week after surgery, the pain across the back recurred and has remained constant. The pain is located from mid-back across to just behind the right shoulder blade. The surgeon followed up with blood work, an ultrasound, and a hydascan---all indicate that the liver functions are good, there are no residual stones in the ducts, and no leakages. The surgeon suggests it is muscle related; however, prescribed muscle relaxers, prescribed pain medication, ibuprofin, heat application, nor a massage have had any significant effect on the pain. On a scale of 1-10, the pain remains between a 3 and 5. At times, the pain seems to have a core focal point, just right of the mid-back, with the pain radiating out. Any insights you have on why this pain might be occurring and what steps I can take to reduce the pain/discomfort would be truly appreciated! Thank you.

Sounds like what happened to me immediately after lap surgery. Unfortunately my surgery has been almost 3 years ago and I still have back pain, stomach spasms, and pain around the right shoulder blade. I do wish I could offer some advice for you but currently I cannot get any advice for myself.....doctors are puzzled. My first bit of advice is for you to see the surgeon that did your surgery first, then if no results, see a gastroenterologist for further testing such as an ERCP to check for residual stones or sludge in the bile ducts.
