Ulcerative colitis diagnosis. Diets to cure?

by mik, Oct 22, 2001 12:00AM
I have been told by several GI specialists that changing my diet will not improve my symptoms of Ulcerative colitis. However i have read several testimonials about the specific Carbohydrate diet, juice diets, and various herbal/supplemental remedies (alove vera/acidophillus)? Is there a specific diet that would be beneficial?  i'm already a vegetarian.  Why don't GI specialists recommend some of the above diet changes?

thanks

Mike, I've had this for over 10 years. You'll find that there are a lot of different points of view. Most doctors will tell you it either does not matter what you eat or you have to find out for yourself. Most people have tried supplements with good results, there are even some people that got rid of it (apperently) by eating raw fruits and vegetables only. For me it is still trial and error, be carefull not do to anything radical but implement changes slowly. I am convinced diet is the source of this illness but I guess we all have to find our own way. Check this website: http://www.scdiet.org/ It's worth a try!

Good luck ! Let me know if you find something that works well for you !
