13 yr old with mystery nausea and vomiting for 2 years...HELP

My daughter has been nauseas and vomiting for 2 years sometimes headaches and shakiness accompanies it.  She did have constant everyday pain too, but they did figure out the gall bladder was not functioning and that's gone now, but nausea is everyday and vomiting is quite frequent and now she has a new pain that's high stomach area almost between the breasts area.  Now they claim gluten intolerant and allergies to soy and egg, but after removing all the above for 7 weeks there's still no changes. We've done numerous x rays, blood work, endoscopy, several antacid type  meds, allergy procedures, I have even started seeing a nutriionist and doing natural supplements.   NOTHING helps and NO accurate answers! It's bad enough that she hasn't been able to go to school in 2 years. Very tough on her and the whole family. Please, anyone, I need suggestions! I'm desperate to have my little girl back normal again.

I'm so sorry your daughter has been sick for so long.  It's so tough to be that young and so sick.  My heart goes out to both you and your daughter.  I'm 19 now, but I've been sick for a while - and I know how awful it can be.



Has your daughter had a gastric emptying series or an Upper GI with a small bowel follow through?  The gastric emptying series tests to see how quickly food moves out of the stomach.  If the food just sits there, it is thought that the patient has gastroparesis - which can cause severe nausea and vomiting.  There are a few medications used to treat this problem, and if meds don't work, there are other alternatives as well.



With the Upper GI w/ small bowel follow through, the doctor could see structural abnormalities of the stomach and small intestines.



How has her blood work come back?  Does she have any fever at all?



I sincerely wish you find answers for your daughter.  Best wishes for the both of you.  Her story sounds a lot like mine.  If after a few months there is no improvement, make an appointment with the Mayo Clinic, perhaps, or take her to the top medical centers in the US - in LA, NYC, Boston, etc.  Take care!

I would recommend that you see a gastroenterologist and get a Gastric Emptying Study done. Anti Nausea medicines like compazine, tigan, and phenergan may be helpful too.

This is a shot in the dark but may be the problem.  I had these symptoms plus more and it ended up being Chronic Carbon Monoxide poisioning.  The elbow on the flue in our attic had been knocked off while roofers were working on the outside 1 1/2 years ago.  I was really sick and have been going to Drs for months and had many tests, xrays, scopes, etc ran during this time.  2 weeks ago we accidently discovered the flue problem and when we had it checked out we had another problem in the basement.  There are so many symptoms during co2 poisioning that drs usually don't figure it out.  Get your house checked out and have the dr check her oxygen level in her blood. (it's not routine)

I have been suffering for over three years from nausea and vomiting one to four times per week.  I have been diagnosed with Gastroparesis from an endoscopy.  My problems began with a whole bunch of dental work, and then I went traveling when I became ill.  The symptoms got worse I would sleep 10 to 14 hours per day really lethargic, the nausea, vomiting, dehydration and frequent urination.  Well I went through a dental revision removing all of the silver fillings in my mouth.  I also did a detox program with a 24 hour toxic metals urine test which revealed amazing amounts of mercury as well as other metals.  I am elated to report that I only sleep 7 to 8 hours per night, this happened immediately after removal and detox.  However, I am sad to say that I still suffer from daily nausea, vomiting and the rest.  I know how incredibly frustrated your daughter must feel.  I have not gotten any help from conventional medicine.  Reglan made me have the shakes so bad, and prilosec helped a little with the nausea, but still vomited.  Now they have me on a less expensive version of protonix.  Does your daughter have regular bowel movements, and stomach bloating.  I would only have a bm once every 8 days, now I take Green Magma available in the local health food stores check out greenfoods.com  To me it is a god sent.  My gastrointerologist approved of the natural ingredients, and I swear by it.  So if your daughter suffers from irregular bowel movements research it, it does not taste great, but it also comes in capsule form.  I also take a digestive enzyme every time that I eat due to my gastroparesis.  I am not going to let this get the best of me, I will find my answer and my prayers go to you and yours that you will find the same.
