Stan, almost everyone I know who has had the nissan done suffers from severe gas and abdominal bloating. It's been almost two years since I had mine done (with severe complications--read comment on nissan surgery). I have had 9 incisional hernias from my original operation and now may face another surgery, because of the possibility of scar tissue from the staph infection on my small intestines. I would like to just get back 70% of my normal life back, so I know how you feel. I don't know what's worse, the acid or the gas and bloating. Your wrap could possibly be too tight or you had damage to the vagus nerve, which is a complication from the surgery. Did your surgeon tell you of all the risk associated with this operation? I lost my spleen during surgery and got a staph and enterococcus infections and pneumonia. I have been operated on nine times in a year and a half, but the fundoplication worked, so I can't really complain about that, I only wished they had told me it is only good for about 7 to 10 years. Good Luck to you!

To: Nissan Wrap
I had a Nissan Wrap in 1995.  Last week I suddenly had severe problems swallowing, eating and so forth.  I am wondering if my wrap failed.  i was told ahead of time that the procedure may last 7 years or so. i feel sure i am not having heart problems and hope that when i see my doctor i can inform him well enough to avoid the unnecessary cardiac workup time and money.  does anyone out there have any suggestions?  i would really like to hear from you.

hey ive had 2 nissans. my first came undone, it was a quarter wrap then 2 yrs later i got a full wrap with a ful incision from my breast bone to like 2 fingers above my belly button. Yeah i definatly wish i never had it done. I dry heave all the time, i was haivng intense pain from the wrap the abdomibnal pain associatyed with the gas. no doctors relized this was a side effect of the surgery so they did a bunch of testing on me. They did one for dumping syndrome where u drink this 100% glucose stuff. Well i couldnt handle it and i began actully vomiting worst pain of my life. i couldnt breathe my heartrate when up to about 150-160 my sugar was 200 and something. And ive been screwed up since. I dryheave all the time, wheneveri do any activity that is even somewhat strenious like walaking up stairs i feel luike my stomach is completly full and feel like throwing up, i also get severe pains in my les area. i really havent found any help for this. although i did just found out my second wrap has failed unfortunatly its causing me more problems now thati  have the wrap my body doesnt have the strength to push the reflux all the way up to my mouth so it aspirates into my brochial tubes and i get asthma symtoms. Ive been diagnosed with broncitis 7 times this last winter becuase of the reflux. The wrap is still there enough to do damge, but cant help my reflux problem so im going to see if when my doctor goes down to do an endoscopy if he can use the little balloon thingy with the pump and inlarge the wrap so i can stop having pain. Ur wrap may be too tight, or it could have wrapped around your esophugus which can cause upper chest pain or it could be a hiatal hernia either way id see if your doc can do an endoscopy or atleast an upper gi.

Need advice !!!!

Had Nissan Fun. in April 98 & to date suffer from hyper-flatulence.  Extremely gassy!  Other side effects SLOWLY subsided.  Just learned pregnant (ye-ha) but scared to death of what that means to surgery sight. Questioned OB Dr. about what will happen, Doc not sure, hasn't had Nissan patient before. Lately experiencing painful bloating. As I get bigger I'm very, very worried.  Any info would be helpful.  Considered calling orignal suregon to ? but not real confident as several undisclosed side effects (vomiting he claimed was flu & etc.) Any idea's or advice?  Thanks

My 15 yr. old daughter has reflux like you would not beleive. We have tried acid blockers, didn't do a thing for her. The Dr. wants to do a Fundoplication. We meet the surgeon on 8-29-02. Please suggest some questions I should ask. I don't want to mess her up more than she is. Is it worth it?
