My cousin's son, who is 28, was diagnosed 2 months ago with Liver Cancer. The doctor removed a tumor this size of a cantaloupe and 75% of the liver. At the time, they felt all the tumor was removed and no chemo was required. He did have a problem with his bile duct and required a bag, which he still has. I asked his mother what type and grade cancer he has and the only information I can get is that is a type of sarcoma. The doctor was sure there were no other signs of cancer in any of his tests, however, 2 weeks ago, a new CAT scan shows new cancer cells in the "native" part of the liver. He is not undergoing chemo treatments. I would like to help her research and get information to help her, however, I do not know what to look for. From what little I've read, it seems sarcomas are usually bone related. Can this type of cancer start in the liver? Where are the best doctors/hosptials located for this kind of cancer? Do people with this type of cancer have a good or bad chance for survival? Any other information such as types of clincal trials and where to get them would be appreciated.
