Seasonal Affliction

by virgo57, May 30, 2002 12:00AM
Every March and every September I get these bouts of diahrea which last for up to 3 weeks at least 20 times a day I am on the toilet gushing out brown water at times. My doctor put me on antibiotics and by the time they are finished the diahrea is gone and I am back to normal...until September rolls in and I get it all over again. My doctor seems to think it dietary but I am having my doubts since I have switched my milk to lactaid and cut my caffine intake to only one cup in the morning.

The only time I have this is in the spring and fall ..no other time of the year. It is almost like something is dormant inside of me and acts up in these times. I mentioned to the doctor that it might be a possibilty to be H pylori as I do get the odd burning in my stomach and suffer alot of heartburn but he tells me that H Pylori does not cause seasonal diahrea.

If anyone has suffered these symptoms I would appreciate any input..thankyou.

I have allergies and sometimes have bouts with diaherra when I eat something that I shouldn't.  It sure sounds like your symptoms could be allergy related either something that you are eating that time of the year or something that is in the air that you are breathing.  I have GERD and have found that it is tied into allergies. Allergies can minic alot of symptoms of different diseases & illnesses.  You might consider being tested for things in the air...mold, pollen, ragweed etc.  I don't know where you live so don't know what's in bloom there in Mar. & Sept.  Where I live in Mar., there is alot of pollen in the air from trees and grass and in Sept. mold.  Good luck on your search.  Hope you find your answer. Oh, when I am around things that I am allergic to, it causes my throat & chest to burn.
