Deep breathing from hiatal hernia

I have acid reflux and have all tests to show that and a hiatal hernia. My hernia only moves 4cm, which is not much, but a have a great deal of trouble at times taking a deep breath. I have seen six doctors and been in the ER once w/o help. I also have a schatzki's ring, but food does not get stuck after the scope I had done.

The doctors can't seem to help the breathing problem. It is changing me life now. Please any help or recommendations.

I sometimes get severe chest pains and my heart skips, and when that occurs I have trouble breathing. Your Hiatis Hernia may lie just over your diaphram, putting pressure on it. I have just read of a really good surgery proceedure on the net from London, England. Basicly they put a small inscision through your abdomen and put a special mesh over the weak area and close it up without stitches. Although that proceedure pertained more for other types of hernias, I will try to find a surgon who would work along this line. It is an in and out proceedure with only a few days off work. If I find anymore breaking news or an excellent surgon I will post it. Although most doctors try to bandage the problem, they can't cure it. Pills in the long run makes it worse, I now have gastritis, Barretts Esophogus, and a Miligment tissue. I'm getting the surgury, enouph pain and pills!

I also had difficulty breathing from reflux and a hiatal hernia. Reflux caused asthma and a hiatal hernia put pressure against my diaphragm. Asthma meds didn't help much. Not being able to take a deep breath was a miserable & scary feeling and sometimes lasted for 2-3 hrs at a time (on/off all day long). Try raising your arms above your head to lift the diaphragm and make sure you're sitting straight. It helped me sometimes. True relief came after I had a nissen fundoplication. I hope you find relief soon.
