I was diagnosed with Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH). Personally, I have found that I feel much better if I avoid all trans fats (hydrogenated fats and oils). This is hard to do but I was willing to do it in order to have a healthier life. I also avoid all artificial sweeteners. I was having a lot of stomach discomfort when I was drinking diet Snapples, etc. When I stopped drinking them, my stomach pain went away.
I hope this information helps you.
but i have found that if i keep taking it every day,day after day i may not have enough acid in my stomach to do the job and you all know what job it has to do-digest FOOD,all kinds of food!!
thats why some folks drink a soda with their meals, some take cranberry juice to help them raise the stomach acid level in their stomach.
also another piece of bad news on too little stomach acid is this-most of us do have a slight level of h pylori bacteria and with low stomach acid, this bacteria has a chance to grow.
these days while i take my prevacid before i go to bed, during the day while i eat,i have a glass of cranberry juice or pineapple jucie or sometimes just a soda .
try to see if this help with your problem.
(i know a woman who tended her disabled husband for 17 years,he has stomach ulcer and doc told him he needs to take prilosev every day! well, after he past away, they found pieces of undigested oreo cookies in his stomach!)
My A-- When I was diagnosed with NASH and changed to a healthier diet which included more fiber, I noticed that I became more constipated. I found this to be very odd because it seems that the opposite would be true. I have increased my water intake and this helps. The diet recommendations from the dieticians was general. They wanted me to eat foods from the food pyramid and reduce my food portions. They like to emphasize food portions.
Something else I want to mention is that fatty foods do not cause NASH. I think they call NASH a metabolic disease. Your body does not process the fat properly and it gets stored in the wrong places (in the liver). I even have some fat in my kidneys.
