Bowel movement alerts me to problem?

by granadino, Mar 23, 2005 12:00AM
I am 35 yrs old white male.

I have started juicing and taking natural supplements to detox and get my weight down.  I am not too overweight I just want to clean up my diet.

So after the first day (I have done this before but without the powder supplements and with no problem) I feel great and the next morning I wake up and continue my diet.  When I make a bowel movement at 11am I develop a rash in my groin area and around my belt line only exactly 1 minute after the movement.  It's like the movement ignited this problem.

Later that day it spreads to my scrotum and the lining of where my underwear sits on my rear "crack" and also to the palms of my hands and the bottom of my feet.  It is a burning rash that makes my feet tingle and it does NOT itch.  It is red in color and looks just like sunburn.

I have been to doctors before because of this and nobody can figure what it is.  I am starting to disbelieve the allergy theories and thinking it's more like a colo-rectal problem or maybe some form of cancer.

I have had FULL blood work done and here is what was irregluar:

my kidney was overrun with protein malabsorbtion

high cholest.

low ldl

high sgot (ast) 63      liver enzymes

high sgpt (alt) 101     liver enzymes

Is there anything here that you could use to help me figure out what the heck I have wrong?

I have been to allergy docs and derms and none of them can figure it.

Tough to say without examination.  Various rashes can present with inflammatory bowel disease (i.e. Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis).  Autoimmune disorders can also lead to changes in bowel habits as well as rashes.

If there continues to be changes in the bowel habits, you can consider a colonoscopy to evaluate for the aforementioned diseases.

Regarding the liver enzymes - there can be many causes for the elevation, including alcohol, medication reaction, or hepatitis.  You can consider blood tests looking for hepatitis as well as an ultrasound for further evaluation.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician or in conjunction with a GI referral.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
