Abdominal CT scan says sigmoid and rectum are loaded

by aaron86, Jul 25, 2006 12:00AM
Hello Dr, i had an abdominal ct scan last week because of some aches and twitches/spasms ive been getting in my abdominal area.

I collected my results yesterday and it said my 'sigmoid and rectum are noted to be loaded'.

What does this mean exactly and what should be my next step? What are the possible problems which i may have? Id appreciate your honest input.

As a side note ive always never really had bowel movements since i was a kid (im 20). Ive always had bowel movements of 2 or 3 times a week.

I am not sure what that means.  Possibly full of stool or contrast material?

Other possible considerations would be various causes of inflammation such as colitis or inflammatory bowel disease.

Repeating the scan can be considered, or asking your physician for a more detail interpretation.

If the CT scan is non-revealing, a colonoscopy can be considered for further evaluation.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

Thanks you for the quick reply.

I will be going to my physician next week, so ill ask him more about it then.

Can i just let you know a few more things and ask you the possible diseases i might have from these symptoms. Basically over the last 6 months i felt the need to itch my anal area at least once a day or once every other day. And i also at least once a month end up getting some blood after a bowel movement. What do these two symptoms mean when they are together? What could i have? Could this even be cancer?
