Question Title: Abortion effects

Forum: The Maternal and Child Health Forum
Topic: Pregnancy - Post

I am 23 years old and I ha dtwo accidents and I had to undergo two abbortions (Terminations) within a 1 year period in normal healthy way. After my last abortion when I checked with my doctor he said I am normal.
I would like to know if I get pregnant again will there be any effects on the baby? What are the side effects of abrotion? Will there be any effects for me if I get pregnant again or the baby?

Please advice

Thank you

Dear Aruni:
Abortion should be reserved for very special circumstances: contraception is the preferred way to plan the timing and size of family.

Most women who have an elected termination of pregnancy have no subsequent problems. A minority of patients have difficulty carrying future pregnancies to full term because the cervix is weakened from the mechanical stretching to do the termination.
Termination does not affect the normal development in future pregnancies.
